Creation of Mother Goddess consists of two works – The Myth and The Altar.
The Myth tells fictious stories and strange accounts of an imagined Mother Goddess, who acts as a Tutelary Spirit to a mythical River.
The Altar is designed to emulate a prayer room or a confession room with a more balanced power structure. A vintage typewriter and 13 fishing lines act as a kinetic communication device with Mother Goddess. The audience is invited to have a direct yet intimate and private conversation with the Mother Goddess. There would be no records, written or otherwise, just like the act of mumbling a prayer under your breath and sending it into nothingness. The difference here is Mother Goddess will respond. She might not bless you with good fortunes or endless wealth, but she will always answer.
This work is developed during ToLo's residency at Treasure Hill Artist Village and Puppetry Art Center of Taipei.
Exhibition from June 1st - June 16th at Treasure Hill Artist Village.
